BIOGRAPHY:

Ethan Askey is a boss harmonica player who got his first blues harp lesson directly from the legendary Junior Wells of Chicago, bandmate of Buddy Guy and Muddy Waters. Having served a long apprenticeship as sideman and session player since 1994, Ethan stands on the shoulders of the blues greats before him to pay them respect and carve out his own niche in modern music. He is a remarkable songwriter, a rich baritone singer, and a natural performer who now fronts Ethan Askey & The Elevators, based in the Canadian Rockies. Described in Cashbox Canada Magazine as “Modern storytellers with an authentic voice and some vintage voltage”, this artist has topped the radio play charts and in live performance the band moves people in body and soul with their original, inspiring and energizing brand of Rocky Mountain roots and boogie blues.

“I’m a fan of Ethan’s recordings and songwriting. Love the Canadiana nods, his sense of humour and respect for the blues masters”

– Holger Peterson, founder of Stony Plains Records, author

and broadcaster on CKUA and CBC Radio

“He paid his dues, he learned from some of the best, and now he’s stepped into the spotlight. All over the album is beautiful, beautiful music with gorgeous harmonica”

– Tarik Robinson, broadcaster on CBC and Sirius XM.
